Julie Keck and Jess King have made more indie series about queer people and women than probably anyone else in the world.

After creating Full Out (starring Nana Visitor of Star Trek fame), and many series with romance for the indie network tello, the couple and Seed&Spark founder Emily Best turned to a more intimate but powerful question:

What does consent look like?

“Everyone talks about what shouldn’t happen, but not enough people talk about what should,” Julie told me.

F*ck Yes focuses on queer relationships across gender, age, and sexuality, to show different ways people can consent to sex.

When we hear the word “consent” we might think of try and boring things like contracts and boundaries, legal and negotiated.

F*ck Yes argues that consent can be sexy.

“Sex is a conversation, it’s a body conversation, and it’s OK to add some words to that conversation,” Jess said.

It’s part of the fun and the joy—or awkward or uncomfortable. “And that’s OK, that’s part of it too,” they added.

“We wanted to show that it’s all OK. We have a lot of negativity in our culture.”

In the end, F*ck Yes is enthusiastically positive. A green light to have fun—together!
